Analysis

Like other branches of art, artistic textiles constitute an important part of culture industries. As proof, one could take the number of people making them. After typing "artistic textiles" in Google, we find dozens of artists working in this realm. From the very beginning of its existence, a textile occupied an in-between place: being functional, it played a decorative, symbolic or, finally, especially in the 20th century, artistic role.
